I’ve got a lot of free time now school is done for this year! Doing nothing in your school vacation is nice, but not all the time! So I have decided to re-design my website so it looks better. The visual design of my current site isn’t so bad, I kind of like it, but it’s a real mess with all the info on it! I also miss a introduction page with the most important stuff about me and the website. So that’s why I am working on a new web design at the moment.
Some features of my new website will be:
A front page with a slider with my latest portfolio items, 3 columns with information about me, what I do and my latest blog posts.
A portfolio page where my latest work will be presented. People can select what they want to see (Photography, design, school etc.) or they can see the newest thing.
Blog pages with some useful or useless information about me.
Big photo on the background because I love photography! (that’s the theme of this Design)
Simple and minimal design to improve readability.
And much much more!
The design is already done, at least the basic design! Menu items will probably be smaller in the final, and I have some doubts about the color use and my logo. Maybe I will change that in the final version, or else later when it’s all done, it ain’t really big issues that need a lot of work when it needs to be changed. I’ve started coding my design right now, and I have no ETA at all It’s done when it’s done! Oh alright… screenshot!!!
For SLC I was asked to make a solicitation letter and a CV (in Dutch) as to pretend to get me into the second year Well, both are done and can be found below! Please understand that I changed my adres and some more personal information because of privacy
Some great logo’s that have some great visual aspects! I love the difference in shapes and colors! You can see some different combination of shapes and colors; some are grey and quite cold while others are colorful and warm. It shows what you can do with logo’s!
“Huiskamer” logo by Laurens Beil
This logo is made by Laurens and I think it’s pretty interesting because of the shapes and child like look. It looks like the letters are made with building blocks that kids use to play with.
Some great artwork bij Tony Holmsten. This is a creation where he shows a geyser that is exploding under the feets of the enemy suddenly freezing to ice. Great drawing with nice details and something you don’t see everyday! I like the manga style that is present in this artwork.
This is of his concept arts which I think looks great! I get a paradise feeling from this scene and it kind of reminds me of Lord of the Rings where they had a meeting with all the races. Anyway, it can just come out of a great RPG game with a great story. The scene is just breathtaking.
I find this piece interesting because it shows different states of a scene with different feelings in it. The first picture shows some kind of war scene, while the second one shows something peaceful and the last one is like something good is going to happen. Very interesting use of colors to change the feeling of a scene! Reminds me of photographing at different times which creates different feelings as well.
This series made me laugh! First of all because I did a guerrilla marketing assignment just a few days ago and this could be quite helpful! Second because the images are just so funny! Sandrine Estrade Boulet made adjustments to pictures so they look like a character. My favourites from above are garbage bags on the streets where it looks like people are in there, the can facing down in the snow like it trip or something, and the road block that is hugging itself. If this isn’t a great example of creativity then I don’t know what is!
This is an illustration for an articale discussing peak oil subject (ESS newspaper). I like the illustration becuase it combines illustration with a photo (oil pump). It also quite actual and nicely colored.
A really great picture that is a marketing advert for Koleston Hair Colours. You can see that the color is great, nice and bright red. But if you look at it a different way you see lips forming because of the highlights and shadows. Greatly done and another creative way to advertise!
A cigarette in the shape of a shotgun! A great way to let people know that smoking is deadly. Great idea for advertising and to make people aware of the dangers of smoking.
I like this work because of the diversity in the image. Colors, animals, a kid, paint, toys, clouds, a house and much more! Much to look at which can be very inspiring.
Another diversity work with a lot to see. Only two colors seem to be used; blue and yellowish in multiple tones. The coloring gives the image a classic feeling, also the the drawing style helps with that. Lovely artwork!
Adam Kimmel presents: Claremont HD
A really freaking video of the guys that go down hill on a skateboard doing some really dangerous stuff! The exchange the camera to each other multiple times in the video and you can see them taking over cars on the road, so they are really going fast! Some really great video material.
Stomacher – Untitled/Dard Divider
Great video where the author used a Canon 5DmkII (same camera as I have!) to make a nice time lapse video. I don’t know what it is but I seem to be a sucker for time lapse video’s The video shows some great places in fast motion with a great tune in the background.
The Balance
A video that uses 3D Animation to show the beauty of Korea. Great work with great quality. This is something I want to explore more in my future education, I think it’s a minor that I can choose to learn this. I just love the feeling this video gives, nicely done!
I did a interview with a student from the second year of my study CMD to inform myself more about what is to come. The interview went well and the results can be found in the attachment file, in Dutch again
I’ve been to a great Muse concert last Saturday in Nijmegen! It was a outdoor concert, and we (me and a friend) where a bit afraid that it would rain. It did rain occasionally, but it wasn’t that bad! To be honest, we didn’t feel anything of it!
Anyway, the concert was really great! They did a great work with the lights and all! Great show, and they just play so good! The end was the best. Sounds bad, but it’s because they played “Plug in Baby” and “Knights of Cydonia“, two really great songs! Anyway, pictures below:
For the last quarter of this school year I was asked to make a form for a online community (not real of course, just practice!). My subject was a community for bi and gay people concerning the gay emancipation. The goals for this assignment is to learn the basic design elements of forms and how to use them properly. The result is a (big) report in Dutch with my results.
For this assignment I used a lot of theory from Luke Wroblewski, which where really handy! Luke is a professional concerning form design on the internet. Most people hate filling in forms, and Luke learns form designers how to make a form as efficient as possible so people don’t need to spend a lot of time on it.
At first I thought making forms was as boring as filling them in. But when I read a few articles and books I found it was pretty interesting! Especially when you read that changing one button can increase your customers number with 45% and revenue by $4.000.000.000! I learned a lot from this assignment like the path to completion and the tone of voice of a form. Al really interesting things that really can help a company!
For Project this quarter I made a logo for the team. Not sure if we are going to use it, but I had much fun making it! Our team name is InChoq, which stands for “Inspirerend choqueren”, in English it stand for Inspiring Shocking. Made this in Illustrator with the help of kuler for some color combination’s. Anyway, see the logo below!
Made this in Illustrator last week! I’m quite happy with the outcome, so happy that I decided to use it in all my reports for this quarter on school! Anyway, I made this with a tutorial from “Vectips” . You can see the outcome below:
